Bir Osmanlı padişahının türbesinde Kur’ân okuyan bir Seyyid, İstanbul, 1850. Seyyid, Peygamber Efendimiz’in (ﷺ) soyundan gelen kimselerdir ve Osmanlı toplumunda çok saygı görüyorlardı. Soylu soylarını göstermek için yeşil sarık giyerlerdi.
A Sayyid reciting from the Qur’an at the tomb of an Ottoman Sultan, Istanbul, 1850. Sayyid’s were descendants of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and were highly respected in Ottoman society. They used to wear green turbans to denote their noble lineage.
